SUPERVISION & TRAINING

Supervision

The team provide both group and individual supervision to Psychologists and other allied health professionals. Both Principal Practitioners and three staff are registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Agency (AHPRA) as board approved primary and secondary supervisor for; 4+2; 5+1; higher degree by research; and the forensic registrar program. One Principal Practitioner is also currently registered as a Clinical Supervisor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

Training

Cathartic Consulting currently deliver training for a number of different organisations and Government Departments, including:

  • Private corporations
  • Education providers
  • Community health/welfare providers
  • Prisons
  • Hospitals
  • Clinical mental health providers
  • Human services providers
  • Community forensic providers
  • Local Government

 

Most of the team have experience teaching at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels in Schools of Psychology at Deakin University or Bond University. Additionally, one Principal Practitioner holds a Graduate Certificate of Higher Education and two Senior Psychologists hold a Certificate IV in Assessment and Training.

Program Development

A number of the team have also developed programs and training sessions. In particular, one of the Principal Practitioners has developed a Foundational Group Facilitation training, an Advanced Group Facilitation training, a Mediation and Conflict Resolution workshop, an Assessing and Treating Gang Related Violence Seminar, an Interpersonal Relationships Program, a Parenting Program, a Burnout, Compassion Fatigue and Vicarious Trauma workshop.

 

The other Principal Practitioner has developed an Assertiveness Training workshop, a Working with Indigenous Family Violence Survivors training, a Mindfulness and Sleep Hygiene programs, an Introduction to Effective Group Facilitation training, a Working With Complex Forensic Clients training, a Family Violence Support Group and an Ethics in Forensic Practice workshop. Further, this Principal Practitioner has been and continues to be involved in the development of undergraduate and postgraduate coaching, counselling and forensic psychology units at Deakin University.

 

Many other members of the team have also developed training programs, in particular in the area of drug and alcohol, psycho-education, assessment and intervention. The team have delivered all of the aforementioned training programs and many more. It is important to note that the team have also facilitated training to custodial staff, including prisoner behaviour management.
